The Davis Family
Since we live so far away from family and friends I made this blog. Now you all can learn about Matthew's many milestones and our family news on a daily basis.

The Schedule...dum dum dummmm
I almost completely forgot to update about our little schedule debacle. We have discovered that we just can't let Matthew cry it out. We just can't. It inevitably turns into hysterics and then I cry and Michael just can't take it anymore. So, we never really tried it again to completely honest. We did, however, discover that Matthew's molars are coming in. Oh joy. So therein lies our problem. Now we are giving him the proper amount of infant Tylenol (before we were giving him way to little and I'm sure now that it had absolutely no effect) and he has been going to bed earlier and earlier. We have also discovered that our little chunky monkey loves to eat and can eat A LOT. Well duh you say. Ok so we knew this but we still felt like we were giving him the proper portions and not over feeding him. I am absolutely terrified of teaching my child to stuff himself and thus helping him become obese in adulthood or *gasp* in childhood. Anyway, my darling husband has been basically doing nearly everything since Friday to give me bit of a birthday break and decided to just feed Matthew until he couldn't/wouldn't eat anymore. He did this all day. Lo and behold our little man fell asleep at a decent hour and stayed asleep for over 8 hours. Who would have thought? Now I'm feeling terribly guilty that I haven't been feeding my son enough. Oh well, live and learn. Now we are giving him more healthy foods to eat and we are all sleeping a little better.
Deceptively Delicious!
For my birthday my fabulous sister-in-law bought me Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook, Deceptively Delicious. The entire premise of the book is to sneak veggies into regular foods. While I will always cook my family veggies as side dishes and I think offering veggies in their natural form at meal times is very, very important in developing Matthew's maturing taste buds I figure throwing in a few extra nutrients in something we already eat can't hurt. So, today I steamed and pureed some carrots. They looked just like they ought to and I got to use my brand spanking new handy dandy Ninja that was also a birthday present from my wonderful husband. The only recipe I really had everything for already were the applesauce muffins. I must say they are great. I love the topping and just knowing Matthew has a few extra nutrients is great. Although, when I really thought about it there is only a half cup of carrot puree and 12 muffins so the amount of carrot isn't exactly great but we couldn't taste it at all and I suppose some is better than none. There is also a lot of oats and applesauce in the recipe so all in all I give an A for health and an A- for taste. They are just a bit softer than we like in the middle and even after putting them back in the oven for 5 more minutes there was no change. Matthew didn't seem to notice at all. So tomorrow morning we will be having our applesauce muffins, banana, and cantaloupe for breakfast. We are also heading to the local farmer's market to pick up some fresh veggies and I'll be trying out many more recipes. I especially can't wait to start throwing butternut squash into stuff since Michael and I both despise this particular veggie. Matthew, however, loves it so I will leave a bit out as a side just for him.
I almost forgot to add as a side note that the applesauce muffins would have been great with some raisins or dried unsweetened cranberries thrown in. I will definitely be doing this next time!

Schedule
Ok, so after much deliberation we are going to let Matthew cry it out. However, we are going to follow our schedule very strictly for 3 days first. After that we will put Matthew in his crib at his "bedtime" of 8 pm and we will leave him there....for awhile. We haven't decided exactly how long we will let him cry. I suppose we will just have to gauge the situation accordingly. Wish us luck. Tomorrow begins Day #1.
yay for playdates!!
So now that I am finally walking around with relative ease we have started going to a few playdates. Thank good ness to because we were all feeling a bit cooped up here in the house. We have a playdate planned for today at 1030. I will take a few pictures and post them here a little later today.
Matthew ate chinese food for the first time a few days ago and he loves it. He picks the peas and carrots out of the chicken fried rice. Thankfully, he really loves his veggies.
Not a lot to report this week. Hopefully, he will wait a couple more weeks before he starts running around. He is very close to walking but he still just needs some confidence to take that first step. Have a great weekend everyone and I'll post again next week or if he hits another milestone!

Crazy baby haha
Well, Aunt Lindsey is no longer here helping us do everything. She went back home with Uncle Andrew and Aunt Jana. We all miss them so much. I thought Matthew would be rotten when they left but he handled it very well. I also bought a jumpy, bouncy thing from a fellow Army wife/mom for the daycare and we decided to try it out with Matthew. Well, he LOVES it! He could bounce forever if we let him. It's hilarious. I just got it yesterday and we have already gotten the $5 it cost out of it.
Tomorrow begins a new schedule and will, hopefully, end the staying up until 0230 and then trying to sleep all day. We are waking the little man up at 0730 and then we are going to the zoo. Hopefully, we can hold off the nap until around 1300 or so. Then we are only letting him sleep for an hour and a half or two hours. Then, if all goes as planned, he will be exhausted by 2100 or so and sleep all night. I figure if we keep to this exact schedule he will get accustomed to it and we will only have to make minor changes. I have a feeling though that we are going to have one very grumpy baby on our hands for a few days. We are also weaning him off the bottle right now; which hasn't been nearly as difficult has I thought it would be. He doesn't really mind and he is getting better and better at drinking his milk in a sippy cup. Wish us luck and I may be to exhausted to blog for awhile until the schedule gets to be a normal occurrence in the Davis house.

They have finally arrived!
Aunt Jana and Uncle Andrew have finally arrived!! We are so happy they are here for the week. Also, Grandpa will be here tomorrow evening. Matthew has warmed right up to Aunt Jana but he is still a little scared of Uncle Andrew. His stranger anxiety has hit an all time high lately. We are hoping it passes soon. Although, we all know when Matthew gets to paintballin age Uncle Andrew will be his main man lol. Matthew has really started drinking out of a cup much better. Hopefully, in a month, at the latest, we will have kicked the bottle entirely. We have noticed also that Matthew is starting to stand on his own. He only does it for a few seconds until he realizes he's not holding on to anything but he is definitely progressing. He will be walking before long. Mommy is excited but kinda hoping he will wait just a bit longer until I am walking around well.

Matthew said "bye bye"!!
Matthew said "bye bye" today as Michael was leaving for PT. He has been able to say it for 6 mo. now but he never said it to anyone as they were leaving. It was plain as day and Lindsey and I just froze. It was so exciting. Now we can officially add that to "mama", "dada", "baba", and "yellow". We have decided not to add a word to his vocabulary until he actually uses it and it has meaning to him.
Something else he started doing yesterday is really dancing. He started in the car. He had done it a little here and there but never as much as yesterday and never with as much enthusiasm. He moves his little head from side to side and just laughs and laughs. He does it now when he gets really excited or gets tickled. Which, by the way, he is ticklish all over now. He used to only be ticklish in his toes but now he is under his arms, his little legs, and apparently his back (as of this morning...haha). Everyday he is doing something new, fun, and exciting!
